Saints/Remembrance

The time of Remembrance comes at the end of the long Trinity season and around the same time as All Saints' and All Souls'. In the Church of England there has been the historical distinction between the ‘saints’ who are the departed (known in the past as the Church triumphant) and the living souls (… the Church militant).

During this time the annual ceremony of Remembrance takes place accompanied by the sale of poppies. This is a very appropriate time to think about the real meaning of service, the sacrifices that people have made and what a true or faithful servant might be.
