Pupils from Aylesbury Vale Academy spark an engaging conversation for Race Equality Week.
What is Race Equality Week?
Race Equality Week is an annual UK-wide movement uniting thousands of organisations and individuals to address the barriers to race equality in the workplace, in schools and in everyday life.
What do young people say?
The diocesan UKME Enabler, the Rev Polly Falconer, visited Aylesbury Vale Academy earlier in 2023.
Polly had the pleasure of chatting with six pupils from Years 6 and 7 about what racial justice means to them. A HUGE thank you to the six amazing pupils for such great discussion.
You can watch that in full on our YouTube channel.
What can I do?
Why not show the film below in your class or youth group as a conversation starter - do the young people in your life agree with what's said? Do they have anything to add?
You can download the video here.
Polly also led an assembly on Black inventors - just what would the world be like if Black people didn't exist? The assembly is suitable for a mix of ages - get in touch with Polly if you'd like to know more.
