St Peter's CE Primary School, Alvescot

We held a Let It Shine week in the first week of November (Term 2) based on the Bible verse Matthew 5:16. On Day 1, we reflected on our own strengths and skills and created artwork that reflects it. On Day 2, we thought about sharing our strengths and talents with others, including reading buddies across the school, creating light lanterns in mixed age pairs and completing a drama workshop led by an external teacher based on the Good Samaritan. On day 3 we focused on shining our light on others - courageous advocacy. School council earned a fairaware award and wrote to our local MP. Eco council created a bug hotel and wrote to the Parish Council to request a joint tree planting programme.  Other pupils worked on the Young Archbishops Leaders Award by writing to our link school friends in Uganda. Wellbeing buddies helped set up and run a community luncheon for older residents in the village.  On day 4 we shared our learning with our families.

Also throughout the week, along with adult volunteers, they collected donations for an eco second hand clothing scheme and donated 50 shoe boxes for Teams4U to supply children in countries such as Ukraine with a Christmas gift. Each class took part in spacemakers activities to reflect on their learning and behaviours over the week.  St Peter's CE Primary School - Latest News/ Galleries
