Supporting and empowering school leaders is at the heart of what ODBE exists for. Effective leaders craft a clear and compelling vision for the educational institution they work for. This inclusive Christian vision helps guide the actions and decisions of all leaders in schools and academies. We support school leaders through our partnership with schools, training and pastoral engagement. By doing so we enable leaders to shape and influence education in every school and for every pupil and member of staff.

Whatever stage of leadership people are at in school, our selection of leadership training and conferences is designed to develop leaders’ skills and knowledge. From the new headteacher induction programme, which lasts 18-months, to the bi-annual briefing for school and academy leaders on all matters ‘Church school’. We aim to offer a wide range of opportunities to engage in training and share information to strengthen the Christian foundation of schools and academies across the diocese.
The team offer expert church school improvement support with programmes designed to support and challenge leaders in living out the vision of their church schools.
